Albion Meadows and Cecret Lake Trails

This one was a little out of the way for us, but it was well worth the trip! We drove up to Albion Basin in Alta, UT and did two trails in one day. It was intense, but absolutely beautiful and if I had the day to do again, I wouldn't have changed a thing. We did the Upper Albion Meadows Trail and the Cecret Lake Trail.

Location: Albion Basin in Alta, UT. Here are the directions from Provo, UT and here are the directions from Salt Lake City, UT.
Distance: Upper Albion Meadows Trail is 1.5 miles one way and Cecret Lake Trail is 1 mile one way. Here's a map of the trails!
Kid-Friendly: Yes
Toddler-Friendly: Yes
Baby-Friendly: Strap 'em on!
Special Notes: The end of the Cecret Lake Trail gets a little steep. Make sure you take the switchbacks! We accidentally followed another path and got stuck in a very precarious situation on the side of the mountain. But if you take the switchbacks, it is perfectly doable for little ones!

We started this day thinking that we were going to just do the Cecret Lake Trail, but the parking lot was full at the trail head, so we decided to start with the Upper Albion Meadow Trail. This trail led right into the Cecret Lake Trail, so it worked out. It was quite the hike with little ones to do both trails, though! I would definitely suggest doing one at a time, but they were both stunning and we made it, so both at the same time is doable.

The first hike was gorgeous! The flowers are so colorful right now. You really need to go do this hike ASAP. I heard that it's extra beautiful this year because of the rain. It was unreal being out in the meadow, surrounded by all kinds of wild flowers.

We met lots of chipmunk and butterfly friends! :)

This trail goes under the ski lifts and they had old ski lift benches along the trail for places to stop and rest. I thought it was so cute and clever!

When we got to the Cecret Lake Trail, it was a mile more to our ultimate destination, so we kept truckin'. The end of the hike is just a little bit steep and it's also pretty rocky. But our barely-three-year-old was able to do the whole thing and we carried our eighteen-month-old most of the way. Once we got to the lake, it was also just absolutely breathtaking! There is no swimming in the lake, so we just took a seat on some rocks, had a snack, and enjoyed the view.

We all hiked back to the Cecret Lake Trailhead, but I ran down the rest of the way to pick up the car and drive it up to pick up the boys and my hubby. It was a lot faster on the way down! But like I said, even though it ended up being pretty exhausting for us, it was 100% worth it! I definitely recommend both of these hikes!

Our littlest was pretty worn out. He fell asleep in Quinn's arms and took a snooze on a rock while he waited for me to come pick them up!
